The only reason you need to be Happy — Backed by Emotion.
Pretty Big Claim.
Thus trying to make it as relatable as possible.
Hang in there, please!
Okay, so let me talk about a myth. The myth, if busted, can give you happiness in absolute near future.
Since this is by far the most harmful myth.
The myth being
“YOU CAN ONLY BE HAPPY WHEN YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL AND RICH!”
Damn! I have been into this notion for so long.
Somehow I bought into this years ago and it is so difficult to let go of.
I believe we all have our share of stories.
It feels so true and logical.
And if you are someone like me, and are determined to make something great happen in life, then this is the most logical thing for you.
Why not?
If I get happy or if I get content today, then what will happen to my ambition?
What if I lose my entire desire to make something happen?
So, that’s why it is important to stay unhappy and unfulfilled till you achieve your major goal!
Right?
Eh………
I don’t think so. And a lot of other qualified people also don’t think so.
Now, it is time to bust the myth.
Man, it is difficult to bust this particular Myth.
So listen, you don’t need to wait in order to be happy.
This is what I have seen and felt in my daily life.
As I was saying, I was into this myth for a long time and still do fall back once in a while. You know, habit.
So my act of postponing happiness was going on………up until last few months ago. And I had that same internal dialogue.
However, things changed.
I was reading a piece that said, a person feels way happier when he/she witnesses progress.
Although, we never thought like that
Since we believe, we feel happiest every bit of things that we have dreamt of, has been done and dusted.
However!
It is also true when considering small goals, but when the goal is as big as doing something meaningful in life, then it is never-ending.
Thus pushing your happiness to infinity.
A sure-shot way to never be happy.
This is mainly because we humans are never satisfied.
We might say we are, but it is never enough.
And maybe that’s is okay for some!
But this nature of ours doesn’t let us enjoy stuff.
The real joy is in the pursuit.
The happiness and fulfillment you feel while you progress in something that is important to you are insane.
This is how we are wired.
As great Stoics said, let’s not ponder over the past and future and focus on today. Let us do whatever is possible for us, today.
Let’s not postpone happiness when it is already there, in front of you.
I hope this will help at least a few people.
That’s all I wish. Thanks for spending your time with my work. Appreciate it.
